Is Candy AI free?
Yes, with limits. Free users can send up to 5 messages to AI characters and watch the free episodes of Candy Shorts — usually the first two of every series. Everything else — unlimited chat, 18+ image and video generation, and monthly tokens — sits behind Premium.

How tokens work
Tokens pay for the extras: image generation, voice notes — and locked Candy Shorts episodes. In the series we track, a locked episode costs 12 or 30 tokens. So the 100 monthly tokens unlock roughly eight 12-token episodes. With two free episodes per series, that’s enough to finish two or three typical five-episode series a month.
Two things to know:
- Tokens don’t roll over forever. When a subscription ends, remaining tokens expire.
- Tokens can’t be transferred or exchanged for money.
What do Candy Shorts really cost?
A typical series has 5 episodes: 2 free and 3 locked at 12 tokens — 36 tokens to finish. On the yearly plan that’s a little over a dollar’s worth of your monthly allowance. Longer series (15+ episodes) cost proportionally more, and some episodes cost 30 tokens. Every series page on this site shows its free episodes and token cost — start with the Candy Shorts ranking.
How to pay less
- Take the yearly plan if you’ll stay more than three months — $3.99/month vs $13.99.
- Watch the free episodes first, and spend tokens only on series you’re hooked on.
- Use tokens before cancelling — they expire when the subscription ends.
Refunds
Per Candy’s terms at our last check: refunds must be requested within 24 hours of payment, only for card payments, and are refused if you’ve used more than 20 tokens. EU customers also have a statutory right of withdrawal on the initial purchase.
How to cancel
Go to Settings → Unsubscribe in your account. Premium stays active until the end of the current billing period, and you won’t be charged again.
